Kaleghouchi (Jumbo) Pistachio

Kalleghouchi is well known for its large and rather fat shape that’s why it is called Jumbo. It is round and long and naturally opened with the light cream shell and beautiful appearance. Its delicious taste is due to being fattier than the other kinds of pistachio. This is larger than Fandoghi Pistachio and has the best commercial value.

Long Pistachio (Ahmad Aghaei)

The pistachio belongs to the cashew family with a small tree originally from the Middle East. Iran, is the first producer of pistachio in the world due its climate conditions which is enough sunny for the trees’ growth. Pistachio has numerous health benefits. It is excellent source of protein, iron, vitamin E and fibre. It is considered as an anticancer food since it has higher levels of some antioxidants than other nuts.

Ahmad Aghaei pistachio is rather large and almond shaped. It is one of the long types and has a whitest shell compared to other kinds of pistachios. Nowadays, production of Ahmad Aghei is increasing and is very popular in some international markets such as Greece and India. Available sizes of Ahmad Aghaei Pistachio are 20/22, 22-24 and 24/26, with 18/20 in small quantities.

Super Long Pistachio (Akbari)

This type of pistachio is almond shaped and larger than Ahmad Aghaei with a unique taste and texture. It is well known for its highest economic value among other types and is popular in East Asia, Europe and Russia. It is distinguished from the colour of its shell which is dark cream. Available sizes are 20/22,22/24 and 24/26, with 18/20 in small quantities.

Round Pistachio (Fandoghi)

The round shape of this type of pistachio is similar to Jumbo, but it is shorter and smaller than Jumbo in size. This type is the most widely available pistachio, because it grows in most pistachio growing areas of Iran. This is naturally opened and contains large amounts of vitamins and minerals. Available sizes are 28/30, 30/32 and 32/34 nuts per ounce. Size 26/28 is also available in small quantities.
